NOur potter in Vallauris creates his pieces using ancient techniques which will bring you much satisfaction. Our craftsman will now describe his art to you. Our pieces are modelled and hand-thrown with high quality clay from Vallauris itself or Limoges. Two days of drying are required to obtain pieces with a "Leather, Stone" colouring, then we dip the objects in "engobe" baths (earthy coatings coloured with natural oxides). The pieces are left to dry in ambient air for one week. Then comes the time for decorating with a paintbrush, also called a "pear", with natural coloured oxides such as cobalt, copper…
The first firing is at a temperature of 1020° C to obtain the "Biscuit" (half-finished). After a day of cooling, we dip the pieces in a "glazing" (vitreous substance that gives the shine and waterproofness to the objects) before the last firing at a temperature of 1040° C.
